Christmas Eve Sweep

Kevin McKavanagh began his Christmas celebrations in the perfect way by taking the Sunday Sweep with 32pts off 6.  He had no fewer than 4 birdies which came at holes 8, 11, 15 and 18 to claim victory by a clear 2pt margin.
Kevin McKavanaghThe runners-up spot went to Tony McCallion, 13, whose back 7 was the best of three players on 31pts. He had dropped 8 shots over the first 7 holes and his chances of a prize looked remote as he began his homeward run. He then went on to run off 6 pars and a double bogey, at 14, for a very welcome if unexpected prize.2012 - Paddy O'Neill
Stephen Magee, 12, came third and will look at his NRs at 10 and 12 with a little regret. Those NRs were the only blemishes on a back 7 which saw pars at every other hole.
Brian McCabrey also had 31pts, off 16, and he took third place. He has been knocking at the door in recent weeks only for an NR along the way to dent his chances, on this occasion the 8th hole was the culprit.
Patrick O’Neill doesn’t normally play cold weather golf but he wrapped up warm to show he can perform in any season. His 30pts, off 10, gave him 5th place, 16 homeward pts nudging the currently almost irrepressible Canice McGivern out of the prizes.
Despite an NR at 7, Nathan McCann took the gross prize with 26 gross pts.  He had bogeys at 5 and 12 but signed off his round with a pair of birdies.nathan-mccann
