Friday 30th March 2018Dear Member,
Another golfing season at last seems to have arrived.
The first Council meeting since the AGM took place this week.
It was decided that Council should try to improve communication with members, so it is my intention to publish very brief notes after each monthly meeting. Initially this will be in email form, but we intend to create a password protected, members only section of our website for future information.
Greens Convenor (Tom Douglas) course in great order, but very aware of drainage problems around 16th fairway. This will be worked on as soon as the ground is firm enough, along with the placing of a fountain in Hanna’s Hazard. New fairway yardage markers and tee collectors in place. Within a month there will be bins on every tee made in house.
Match & Handicapping (Morris Lyness) information re new rules for 2019 will be disseminated towards the end of the year. 9 hole competitions will start next week on Wednesday evenings to guage interest.
PRACTICING ON COURSE it was unanimously agreed that the use of more than 2 balls cannot be allowed. All Council members will report any such activity and will lead to handicap suspension. More details to follow from M & H.
Juveniles CONVENORSHIP STILL VACANT if anyone would like to volunteer for this rewarding position please contact me or the Captain via the office.
125 year anniversary (Barry Campbell) special competition May 25th & 26th with dinner, entertainment & presentation of prizes on 26th night all members warmly invited to book a table.
Also a Formal Dinner dance on November 10th again all very welcome. More details to follow.
