Lady Captain’s Welcome

Dear Members,

It’s a great honour to serve as Lady Captain of Lurgan Golf Club for the incoming year, a year in which we hope to return to our normal club activities without interruption now that Covid is on the ‘back foot’, (fingers crossed as I write this!)

I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and I would like to thank Past Lady Captain Ita Hanna for asking me to be her Vice-Captain back in Autumn 2020 and for steering us so capably through the uncertain times of the 2021 season.

My chosen charity this year is a little less known but no less deserving organisation called Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, a debilitating and terminal lung disease. Here in Northern Ireland, we have the highest incidence of this condition across the whole of the UK.

I am especially looking forward to accompanying and supporting our teams this year and my thanks go to all who have taken on the responsibility of team captains. I wish them good luck in their respective competitions.

We are a friendly and lively group of ladies at Lurgan Golf Club and I extend a warm welcome to all the new members who have recently joined. I hope to get to know you all better throughout the year both on and off the course.

I wish Lady President Gillian Stevenson, Lady Vice-Captain Gina Lewis, Club Captain Garfield Bell, Club President Ian McMurray and Vice-Captain Brian Murphy an enjoyable and successful year.

I know I have the steadfast support of the ladies committee where we are committed to working together in the best interests of our lady members. I wish you all a healthy and enjoyable golfing season.
