Ladies Captain

Pat Carville

Dear Members

I am delighted to be Lady Captain of Lurgan Golf Club in 2019 it is a privilege and indeed an honour to wear the Green Blazer and serve the Ladies Branch, following in a long tradition of outstanding Lady Captains.  I want to thank outgoing Lady Captain Elaine Bell for the invitation to be her Lady Vice Captain in 2018.  I will endeavour to work hard and continue to make Lurgan Golf Club a place where golf is played to a very high standard and where everyone is welcomed and valued regardless of age or gender.

The Ladies Branch is vibrant and I look forward to working with the committee to continue the development of the Ladies Branch within the club.   In doing that I want to welcome all new Lady Members through the Get into Golf initiative under the leadership of our Assistant Professional Zoe Allen and the Ladies Committee.

I look forward to the golfing season getting underway and in particular supporting our teams and team captains in their matches.  I hope we can bring home some silverware in 2019.  We have wonderful young ladies in the club who continue to put us on the local, national and international stage.  I wish all of them continued success for this coming season.

I wish Club Captain Neil Dillon a very successful year and look forward to working with him to make this year special for all our members.  I want to congratulate our new Lady President Claire White and Lady Vice Captain Julie Jordan.  Our course is always well maintained and I thank our Head Greens Keeper Neil, his team, and our Greens Convenor, Tom Douglas.

I read this recently - Golf is the closest game to the game of life.  You get bad breaks from good shots, you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies!

Have a great season and hope to meet you on the course, in the bar or in Bunker 43.

Yours in golf.
