Ladies' Captain

Frances McCorry

As Ladies’ Captain for 2026, I offer a warm welcome to members, guests and visitors to Lurgan Golf Club.

It is an honour and a privilege to take on this role and look forward to the year ahead.  The advice coming from past captains is to simply enjoy the year and I plan to do that.

I want to thank all those members who offered kind words of encouragement and support.  Our Ladies Captain for 2025 Alison, was a pleasure to work with.  I am very grateful for Alison’s guidance, support and kindness throughout the year.

I am delighted Helen Stewart agreed to be my Vice Captain, and look forward to working together with Men’s Captain Paul, Vice-Captain Conor and President Sean.

I also look forward to supporting our teams and would like to extend my thanks to all the team captains for taking on the role.  I wish the mens, ladies and junior captains a very successful season and hopefully, this year we will bring some silverware back to Lurgan.

Lurgan Golf Club continues to move forward in adopting the GUI ‘One Golf Model’ both on the course and within management.  Last year we saw the development of more mixed events in the clubhouse and competitions on the course.

We have another full year of golfing and social events planned and Mens Captain Paul and I hope you will join us whenever possible

.

This year Paul and I have chosen two charities to support - "Evora" (formerly Southern Area Hospice, Newry) and "TinyLife".  Both charities provide support and care for local people.  Representatives of both charities plan to come to the Golf Club in the near future to speak to members in more detail about the work they do.  As in previous years, we know that we can rely on members' generosity in helping to raise much needed funds for these worthy charities.

Finally, I wish you all good health and good weather to enjoy your golf.
