It seems like no time ago that Maeve left to start her first year at Carson-Newlan Eagles College in the USA and what a year it has been. Maeve, according to her mother, took to college life like a duck to water, settling in in no time and making her mark on the golf course. A few days ago she was named the 2019 SAC Woman's Golf All-Conference Freshman of the Year and she followed this up with a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) tournament crown, carding a three over total to help her college gain a fourth -place finish at the Lake Hickory Country Club. This was Maeve's second win of the season and she finishes her year with the best scoring average on her team for the season. Her college website notes that, according to Golfstat, she is ranked 122nd in the nation, the best spot of any freshman in the SAC.' We at Ladies branch are so delighted for her and proud of her achievements. No-one works harder at their game than Maeve and she is proof that hard work and practice certainly pay off. Mum and Dad can be very proud of her, a credit to their family and perhaps arguably the best golfer in her family? Big brother might have something to say about that! She is following in Niamh McSherry's footsteps making her mark on college golf. Hold on to your hats for next year when Annabel Wilson hopefully will
follow them over the pond!
