It was 2 in a row for the unstoppable Gary Totton as he followed his victory in Sunday’s Shop Sweep with victory in the Wednesday Sweep just four days later. First to tee off on a pleasant early spring morning, he parred the first and birdied the second, only to come a cropper with an NR at the third. There were no further mistakes however and his 42pts, off 21, for his third victory of the year.
David Erwin took second place with 41pts off 5. He followed bogeys at 3 and 5 with birdies at 8 and 18 for an extremely tidy level par round.
Third place went to Paul O’Shea who could hardly been thinking of the prizes after a pretty disastrous start which included double bogeys at 1 and 3, and an NR at 4. He then parred 5 in a row for no fewer than 17pts from the 5th to the 9th inclusive. He eventually finished with 41pts off 21.
It has been success all the way this year for Alan Harrison and after winning the Wednesday Sweep just two weeks ago, he took 4th place this week with 40pts off 15. He was able to put a double bogey at 6 behind him immediately as he followed it with a brace of birdies at 7 and 8.
Alex Denver is another player who has been closely associated with success this winter, and he added to his already considerable tally by taking the gross prize with 34 gross pts. Birdies at 6 and 10 helped him return a two over par round.
